MKDA provided architectural services for Court 16, an indoor tennis and pickleball club primarily for children, at 28 Liberty Street. Working in tandem with Brooklyn-based Coughlin Scheel Architects, MKDA delivered a branded, state-of-the-art facility that is equipped with cushioned kid-sized tennis courts, an integrated ball machine training system, and protective netting that defines each area. The project was notably completed in two phases, with an expansion of the space executed shortly after the initial opening.
The vibrant space features a bright color palette of yellows and grays, customized graphics and signage, and interactive elements designed to engage young athletes and foster a sense of playfulness and excitement. In addition, the project team incorporated key amenities such as a pro-shop in reception stocked with youth tennis equipment, wood cubbies for convenient storage of personal belongings, spacious restrooms for changing, and a comfortable viewing area for spectators. With meticulous attention to detail and a focus on functionality, MKDA has created an inclusive environment that not only meets the practical needs of its users but also inspires a love for the game, camaraderie, and a commitment to active, healthy living from an early age.
