Biophilia at Work: A Habitat for Productivity

MKDA collaborated with The Nature Conservancy to create a sustainable, wellness-oriented workplace for its Connecticut Chapter, embodying the organization’s core environmental mission. The office features natural elements such as lush moss walls, abundant planters, and expansive windows that infuse the space with natural light, fostering a biophilic connection. Complementary wood finishes and organic textures are woven throughout, which enhance the space’s warmth and calming appeal. Together, these components establish a setting that inspires both productivity and connection.

MKDA created a variety of spaces to support different work styles and needs. The project team included lounge areas that encourage informal gatherings, huddle rooms and private workstations for focused tasks, and a versatile café space that serves as a hub for collaboration and community. The café integrates sleek finishes and a sculptural greenery-inspired light fixture, adding a dynamic focal point. MKDA also designed conference rooms, open seating areas, and breakout spaces to flow seamlessly, ensuring usability while maintaining a sense of comfort.
